🧺 LOCAL CRAFT MARKETS
🗓️ DATES FOR THE DIARY
Starting in Little Budworth Country Park, you’ll get the best of both worlds - quiet woodland trails and a wider countryside loop that takes in Oulton Park, Budworth Pool and open farmland.
The first section through the country park is all sandy paths, pine woodland and heathland, which already feels different to most Cheshire walks. But instead of looping straight back, this route pushes out into the surrounding countryside, skirting Oulton Park race circuit, passing Budworth Pool, and looping back through peaceful lanes and fields.
It’s a much more varied walk than people expect - one minute you’re deep in woodland, the next you’re out with big open views across rolling farmland. It never feels crowded either, even on a decent weekend.

Route details
Distance: ~6-7 miles (10-11 km)
Time: 2.5-3 hours
Start point: Little Budworth Country Park car park (near Park Road)
Terrain: Woodland trails, sandy paths, country lanes and field tracks
Difficulty: Easy-moderate
Good to know
The woodland sections stay relatively dry, but field paths can be muddy after rain.
Easy to shorten if needed by sticking to the country park loop.
Dog-friendly throughout.
Post-walk pub stop
You’ve got a couple of strong options here, depending on your mood:
The Egerton Arms (Little Budworth) - classic countryside pub, very close to the finish
The Hollies Farm Shop (Little Budworth) - better for coffee, cake or a lighter lunch
Tarporley village (5 mins drive) - loads of solid café and pub options
That’s it for this week.
Thanks for reading The Cheshire Buzz! See you next Thursday - same time, same inbox.
