If you want something easy, scenic and genuinely useful, this oneโs a winner. The River Dee Round is a mostly traffic-free cycling loop that follows the river out of Chester, dips into quieter countryside, then brings you back into the city along flat, easy-going paths.
Itโs not a hardcore ride - and thatโs exactly the point. This is one you can do at a relaxed pace, whether youโre heading out solo, with kids, or just want a low-effort Sunday spin with good views. Youโll pass stretches of the River Dee, green open spaces and quiet lanes, with plenty of spots to stop if you fancy dragging it out into a half-day outing.
The best bit is how accessible it is from multiple starting points, which makes it ideal for combining with coffee, lunch, or a wander once youโre done.
